Overview

A fortnight in the Pearl of Africa as you have never experienced it before.

Regular Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Entebbe – Kampala

    You'll be welcomed in Entebbe then transferred to Kampala for an overnight stay.

  • Day 2

    The Source of the Nile

    You get to visit the source of the Nile and Sipi Falls.

  • Day 3

    Sipi Falls Trekking

    Today you'll trek along the Sipi Falls and make a stop at the Nyeru Rock Paintings.

  • Day 4

    Kidepo Valley National Park

    Today will entail the transfer to the Kidepo Valley National Park.

  • Day 5

    Kidepo Valley National Park

    Today you will get to explore Kidepo Valley's sights and sounds with the option to tour a manyatta!

  • Day 6

    Kidepo – Gulu

    After a final game drive in Kidepo Valley we then set off on the long transfer to the Murchison Falls National Park.

  • Day 7

    Gulu – Murchison Falls National Park

    After breakfast, you get to transfer to the Murchison Falls National Park.

  • Day 8

    Murchison Falls National Park

    Today features a game drive in the savannah on the Nile's northern banks and a boat ride to the Murchison Falls.

  • Day 9

    Albertine Rift Valley & Fort Portal

    We'll head out of the park and for Fort Portal that lies in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains.

  • Day 10

    Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park

    We go on a nature walk in Kibale Forest then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

  • Day 11

    Queen Elizabeth National Park

    You'll take a game drive along the tracks of the park in the morning then go on a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon.

  • Day 12

    Ishasha – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    You'll continue your exploration of Queen Elizabeth National Park by going on a game drive in the morning. The afternoon will see us transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

  • Day 13

    Mountain Gorilla Safari

    Today we'll go gorilla trekking and get opportunities to observe and photograph habituated gorilla families.

  • Day 14

    Batwa Trail – Lake Mburo National Park

    You may optionally take a nature & cultural walk of the Echuya forest to encounter the Batwa pigmies. Later, we transfer to Mburo National Park.

  • Day 15

    Lake Mburo – Entebbe

    A final game drive or optional nature walk then we head back to Entebbe for your flight.

    Ssese Islands, Lake Victoria

    You'll connect to Entebbe and once there, board the ferry boat to the Ssese Islands on Lake Victoria.

    Explore Ssese Islands

    Today, you'll go on a full day boat trip to explore other islands of the archipelago.

    Day 17

    On the Beach at Bugala Island

    On this day you get to relax on a sandy beach and take a swim in the Lake or partake in other optional activities like sport fishing and cycling.

    Entebbe

    Today is reserved for the transfer to Entebbe International Airport.

Regular Itinerary

Day 1

Entebbe – Kampala

Your arrival at Entebbe International Airport is greeted by our on-site representative.

You will then be driven to Kampala City for an overnight stay at one of either Cassia Lodge or Metropole Hotel.

Day 2

The Source of the Nile

After breakfast, we set off eastwards for Jinja town. Located on the shores of the Lake Victoria and the source of the Nile which was discovered by J. Speke in 1864.

You’ll get to visit the source of the Nile then proceed to Mount Elgon at the Sipi Falls where you’ll have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3

Sipi Falls Trekking

Following an early breakfast, you will get to trek along the Sipi Falls which are comprised of four spectacular water falls that are borne out of the Sipi River descending down the slopes of Mount Elgon.

The area is particularly panoramic with the view of Karamoja valley, which also affords you the opportunity to interact and engage in life in a day of a typical African village.

Lunch in the afternoon is followed by a drive to Lira town, one of the main town in Acholiland.

We make a stop at the archaeological site of Nyeru Rock Painting near Kumi.

Dinner and overnight stay at you preferred lodging.

Day 4

Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, we proceed northward to Kidepo Valley National Park.

Lunch will be had en route.

Dinner and an overnight stay at one of the select lodging options on offer.

The UWA bandas are modest but comfortable with hot water and basic modern amenities. The touch and immersion in nature within the park is a guarantee.

Day 5

Kidepo Valley National Park

Breakfast is followed by a photographic game drive along the trails of the park and the River Narus valley.

Kidepo is home to one of the most exciting and diverse fauna of any of the Ugandan parks with over 80 species of mammals, several of which, like the cheetah, stripped hyena and caracal, are only to be found here. Birds number at over 465 species.

Aside from the game drive, upon request, a visit to a local Karimajong homestead (a “manyatta”) can be arranged.

Dinner and an overnight stay at one of the select lodges.

Day 6

Kidepo – Gulu

We have the last game drive or alternative activity in the park then proceed for Murchison Falls National Park, the largest park in Uganda.

Owing to the long transfer time we will have a stop in between and lunch en route.

Get to Gulu in the afternoon from where you’ll have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7

Gulu – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you get to transfer to the Murchison Falls National Park.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodging facility and take your first photographic safari in the afternoon.

Day 8

Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you’ll embark on an early morning game drive to explore the savannah on the northern banks or the River Nile. Some of the animals you should look out for are elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbuck, oribis, bushbuck, spotted hyenasand leopards.

Head back to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, we go on a boat ride along the Nile and head for the base of the Murchison Falls. The river’s banks a teeming with wildlife that includes many hippos, crocodiles and bird species.

The trip is rounded off by a trek to the “top of the falls”. Here, the Nile has forged a narrow canyon from which a thunderous burst of water descends to over 43 meters and also creates a rainbow.

Day 9

Albertine Rift Valley & Fort Portal

We head out of the park after an early breakfast heading south-west along the Lake Albert and Rift Valley escarpments which feature breathtaking panoramic scenery.

We pass through Hoima the capital of the Bunyoro Kingdom after which we stop for a cup of coffee and lunch.

Afterward, we make for Fort Portal which happens to be the capital of the Tooro Kingdom and lies in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, the largest mountain ranges in Africa.

Dinner and an overnight stay at one of the select lodging facilities.

Day 10

Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you’ll get to go on a nature walk in Kibale Forest National Park. You get to experience a tropical rain forest, it’s birds and also encounter chimpanzees in the natural habitat. Other primates to be on the look out for are black and white colobus, red tailed monkey, and the vervet monkey.

After lunch, our journey to the “pearl” of the Ugandan parks, the Queen Elizabeth National Park, continues. It lies between Lake George to the east, Lake Edward to its west and the Rwenzori Mountains to the North.

We get to the park by evening and have a safari drive as you enter the park. Dinner and an overnight stay thereafter.

Day 11

Queen Elizabeth National Park

A quick cup of coffee is followed by a game drive experience along the tracks of the national park, to the northern sector towards Lake George and Kasenyi village. Be on the look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, waterbuck, Uganda kobs, with a leopard thrown in on the rare occasion.

After lunch, the afternoon will see you take a most exciting safari by boat from the Mweya peninsula along the Kazinga channel.

This is a very popular site in Uganda on account of the concentration of wildlife and birds which affords good opportunities for great photographs. You get to see lots of hippos, buffaloes and elephants that congregate for a drink on the channel.

The evening sees the short transfer to the Ishasha sector of the park where you have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12

Ishasha – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, you continue expolring the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national Park – Ishasha. You take a game drive in search of the “tree climbing lions”, seen during the hot hours of the day as they lie perched atop fig trees. Also be on the look out for buffalo herds, elephants, topi antelopes and more wildlife.

After lunch, we proceed to the tropical rain forest of Bwindi. At a height of up to 2,300 meters above sea level we will find ourselves immersed in the natural habitat to the endangered mountain gorillas.

The choice of area for the “gorilla safari” depends on the availability and allocation of permits for this activity by the wildlife authority.

We get to Bwindi National Park in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13

Mountain Gorilla Safari

We get into the rain forest in the morning for the gorilla safari, an activity that starts at about 8 am where you follow ranger guides in groups of up to 8 people as you search for habituated families of mountain gorillas. This should be in accordance with the allocated permits.

According to 2007 gorilla population surveys, Bwindi’s 370 gorillas account for about half of the world’s population of gorillas.

Upon coming across the habituated families of gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them and their mannerisms and take photographs. Ensure that you bring a packed lunch and water in a bag with you. This might require the assistance of porters who will be available.

Day 14

Batwa Trail – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast you may optionally take a nature & cultural walk of the Echuya forest to encounter the Batwa pigmies. This way you can get to interact with them and learn their history, traditions and culture.

After lunch, the afternoon will see us proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. As you enter the park, take a game drive and seek out the zebras, buffaloes as well as impalas, elands, topi and other antelopes.

Dinner and overnight at one of the select lodges available.

Day 15

Lake Mburo – Entebbe

After the last game drive (or optional nature walk) in the park, the journey ends and it’s back to Entebbe with lunch en route.

This day is reserved for departure from Entebbe International Airport.

Ssese Islands, Lake Victoria

After breakfast you’ll take a drive to Entebbe and once there, board the ferry boat to the Ssese Islands on Lake Victoria. Upon arrival on Bugala Island at Lutoboka bay, reps of the selected hotel will be there to welcome and transfer you.

Late snack and dinner at the selected lodge.

Day 16

Explore Ssese Islands

After breakfast and briefing from the assigned guide, the resort will organize a full day boat trip to explore other islands of the archipelago. You stop over to watch birds and check out the forests on the islands. Please ensure that you have a packed lunch, sun cream protection, hat and insect repellent with you.

Return to Bugala for dinner and overnight.

On the Beach at Bugala Island

On this day you get to relax on a sandy beach and take a swim in the Lake. You may alternatively chose to partake is some of the optional activities offered by the resort such as sport fishing, cycling, and nature walks to explore other areas of the islands and rock caves.
