Regular Itinerary

Day 1

Entebbe – Kampala

Your arrival at Entebbe International Airport is greeted by our on-site representative.

You will then be driven to Kampala City for an overnight stay at one of either Cassia Lodge or Metropole Hotel.

Day 2

Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, your journey begins by taking a drive north-west towards Masindi and Murchison Falls National Park, the largest in Uganda. The park offers breathtaking scenery of grassland acacia savannah to the north, and tropical rainforest to its south.

We have a stop-over for a nature walk at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the breeding project that saw the re-population of the endangered white rhino. You may observe them at close proximity while the wander about in the reserve.

After lunch, we proceed to the park. When we encounter the River Nile, you will come across the beautiful Murchison Falls which creates a thunderous canyon of water. You will have a view from atop the falls.

Later, you’ll check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Sipi Falls Trekking

After breakfast you’ll embark on an early morning game drive to explore the savannah on the northern banks or the River Nile.

Some of the animals you should look out for are elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbuck, oribis, bushbuck, spotted hyenas and leopards.

Head back to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, we go on a boat ride along the Nile and head for the base of the Murchison Falls. The river’s banks a teeming with wildlife that includes many hippos, crocodiles and bird species such as the African eagle, pelicans, the kingfisher, Egyptian geese, to mention a few.

Day 4

Albertine Rift Valley & Fort Portal

We head out of the park after an early breakfast heading south-west along the Lake Albert and Rift Valley escarpments which feature breathtaking panoramic scenery.

We pass through Hoima the capital of the Bunyoro Kingdom after which we stop for a cup of coffee and lunch.

Afterward, we make for Fort Portal which happens to be the capital of the Tooro Kingdom and lies in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, the largest mountain ranges in Africa.

Dinner and an overnight stay at one of the select lodging facilities.

Note

Today’s transfer is approximately a 7 – 8 hours drive through dirt roads and conditions may vary depending on the rains.

Day 5

Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, you go on a nature walk in Kibale Forest National Park and experience the tropical forest, birding and chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Other primates you might spot include the black and white colobus, the red-tailed monkey, and the vervet monkey.

After lunch, you visit the eco-tourist site of Bigodi for a village walk which also offers the opportunity to sample Ugandan cuisine.

The evening sees you transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for dinner and an overnight stay at one of the select lodges.

Day 6

Queen Elizabeth National Park

A quick cup of coffee is followed by a game drive experience along the tracks of the national park, to the northern sector towards Lake George and Kasenyi village. Be on the look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, waterbuck, Uganda kobs, with a leopard thrown in on the rare occasion.

After lunch, the afternoon will see you take a most exciting safari by boat from the Mweya peninsula along the Kazinga channel. This is a very popular site in Uganda on account of the concentration of wildlife and birds which affords good opportunities for great photographs. You get to see lots of hippos, buffaloes and elephants that congregate for a drink on the channel.

The evening will see you take another game drive. You then return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7

Ishasha In Queen Elizabeth Ntional Park

After breakfast, we leave the northen sector of the park and head south, to the Ishasha sector, a vast savannah grassland between the river Ishasha and Ntungwe.

After lunch, you take a game drive in search of the “tree climbing lions”, seen during the hot hours of the day as they lie perched atop fig trees. Also be on the look out for buffalo herds, elephants, topi antelopes and more wildlife.

Dinner and an overnight stay at Ishasha Jungle Lodge.

Day 8

Ishasha – Bwindi Forest National Park

After breakfast you’ll leave Queen Elizabeth national Park and head south where you will encounter the tropical rain forests which are the natural habitat to the endangered mountain gorilla.

You have lunch en route and get to Bwindi by evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 9

Mountain Gorilla Safari

We get into the rain forest in the morning for the gorilla safari, an activity that starts at about 8 am where you follow ranger guides in groups of up to 8 people as you search for habituated families of mountain gorillas. This should be in accordance with the allocated permits.

According to 2007 gorilla population surveys, Bwindi’s 370 gorillas account for about half of the world’s population of gorillas.

Upon coming across the habituated families of gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them and their mannerisms and take photographs. Ensure that you bring a packed lunch and water in a bag with you. This might require the assistance of porters who will be available.

Day 10

Batwa Trail Echuya Forest – Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast you may optionally take a nature & cultural walk of the Echuya forest to encounter the Batwa pigmies. This way you can get to interact with them and learn their history, traditions and culture.

We later on drive to Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale in the Kigezi region. Following lunch at the lodge, you’ll have a wonderful experience of nature by means of a guided canoe excursion along the lake for birding, exploration and cultural visits.

The evening will see you relax at your lodge where you have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11

Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Uganda’s national parks. You have lunch en route and as you enter the park, take a game drive and seek out the zebras, buffaloes as well as impalas, elands, topi and other antelopes.

Dinner and overnight at one of the select lodges available.

Lake Mburo – Entebbe

After the last game drive (or optional nature walk) in the park, the journey ends and it’s back to Entebbe with lunch en route.

This day is reserved for departure from Entebbe International Airport.
