Kidepo Valley National Park Kidepo with 1442 sq km of protected reserve is the third in Uganda for extension, situated in the North of the Karamoja plateau, at the border with South Sudan, an extension of rolling plains, rocks and savannah extending beyond the gazetted areas mixed up with scattered trees bounded by the horizon backdrops of distant highlands. It is named after river Kidepo, a seasonal river, while the permanent river Narus supports the presence of wildlife throughout the year, with herds of buffaloes, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas, cheetah. The magnificent park is one of Africa’s finest wilderness according to testimonies of travelers to this conservation Area. The driest season in this micro-clima is the period between November and March which is considered high season. Safari by private car, from Entebbe to Kidepo and proceeding to Murchison Falls or back to Entebbe.

EXTENSION BY PRIVATE VEHICLE TO KIDEPO AND PROCEED TO MURCHISON FALLS / BACK TO ENTEBBE BY ROUTE – 5 days 4 nights

Note: this extension can be connected to the Panorama of Uganda on Day 2.


Day 1 – Entebbe

Bed and Breakfast

  • Arrival at the airport, meet with the company representative and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe for overnight in BB at Hotel No. 5 - Entebbe (U) or Boma Hotel / Karibu Guest House (C, E). BB


Day 2 – Entebbe – Ziwa Reserve – Gulu

Full Board.

  • After breakfast, start the journey in the direction North to Gulu. You will stop over for a nature walk at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, the breeding project which is nurturing the rebirth of the endangered white rhinos in Uganda. You can see them closely while walking freely in the reserve which is their natural habitat.
  • Lunch in a restaurant.
  • In the afternoon proceed for Gulu, dinner and overnight at Bomah Hotel / African Roots Guest House.

Note: todays transfer is about 360 km and may take approximately 6 hours drive, through tarmarc roads.


Day 3 – Gulu - Kidepo Valley National Park

Full Board.

  • After breakfast, drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. This park is named after the river traversing this region at the border between Sudan and Kenya. This is one of the most unspoilt, pure wild places remaining in Africa.
  • Lunch at the lodge.
  • In the afternoon / evening game drive.
  • Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge (U) or Adere Safari Lodge (C) or Kidepo Savannah Lodge / Zebra Lodge (E).

Note: todays transfer is about 230 km and may take approximately 4 hours and half drive, through tarmarc roads.


Day 4 – Kidepo Valley National Park

Full Board.

  • After breakfast take a photographic safari along the trails of the national park and expect to explore the region of river Narus valley. Kidepo contains one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which restricted only to Kidepo, like cheetah, striped hyena and caracal. The bird list boasts over 465 species.
  • A part from the game drive, on request a visit to the local Karimojong homestead or “manyattas” can be organized (included).
  • Full board overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge (U) or Adere Safari Lodge (C) or Kidepo Savannah Lodge / Zebra Lodge (E).


Day 5 – Kidepo – Murchison Falls National Park

Half Board.

  • After breakfast, last game drive in Kidepo National Park.
  • Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving by evening or proceed directly to Entebbe (in this case, without game drive).
  • Lunch en route.

Note: todays transfer is about 350 km and may take approximately 7 hours’ drive, through tarmarc roads and murram roads

Sustainability Policies

  • We have a “water policy”: we don’t use plastic bottles, but cans of water to be refilled in the vehicles; please bring with you your bottle water.
  • Our tours are “carbon neutral”, whereby our carbon emissions are computed and compensated through the reforestation project Every 5 Acres.
  • Travelers can “plant a tree” in the reforestation project “One traveler, one tree, one forest” with KAFRED.
  • We support Association for Conservation of Bugoma Forest (ACBF – bugomaconservation.org) for developing eco-tourism and income generating activities in remote communities in Uganda and for the conservation efforts to protect Bugoma Forest Reserve.
  • We promote local typical products of Uganda and avail them under the brand “Jungle Taste”.
  • We use and avail cotton bags during the tour to reduce and avoid use of plastic bags while shopping.
  • We select the best eco-lodges with whom we partner for a more sustainable approach.
